World of Warships Supertest: Freemium Tier X German Battleship Mecklenburg
5 min readHistorical background
Mecklenburg doesn’t really have a historical background to speak of. It is a Friedrich Der Grosse (though it has a unique 3D model) on which Wargaming installed quadruple 305 mm turrets. If I remember correctly, these turrets were intended for one of the hybrid designs Germany worked on but never built.
Her catapult was also moved between the funnels and the secondary battery was revised, being only composed of dual-purpose twin turrets with 128 mm guns. She is also equipped with two quadruple torpedo launchers, one on each side of the ship.
Her main battery gets battlecruiser dispersion, a high sigma value of 2.05, fast reload and the classic German HE penetration.
The ship will be available for steel when finalized. While we don’t know her actual price, we can guess that it will be on the same range of prices as the other tier X steel Freemium ships. Her price should be between 30 000 and 33 000 steel.

For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

Personal Opinion
Mecklenburg, Picklenburg or Merkelenburg, however you want to call it, looks pretty damn strong right now.
Unlike a Kurfürst that is just dummy thick and handles like an island, Mecklenburg has a hull very similar to the Friedrich but is faster and also sits lower on the water by 1.5 m. This will already make it a lot more comfortable to play, especially the last part that possibly means she will be fully immune to citadel hits unlike Friedrich that sometimes gets smashed when turning.
On paper, the guns are also insane as you can bring SIXTEEN OF THEM on target and with battlecruiser dispersion which will definitely lead to pretty disgusting results, especially with the fast reload time. Obviously, they have their downside. It’s only 305 mm guns so the penetration will definitely be missing against the main belts of battleships and you will only be able to overmatch a handful of targets with AP. However, since it’s German guns, it’s also German HE penetration. With 76 mm of penetration, I mostly can’t wait to Thanos-snap one or two Smolensk.
The firing angles are also tragic and you will be forced to show an enormous amount of broadside to shoot all guns. Fortunately, the turtleback is there to protect the citadel.
Finally, and I never thought I would say that, the anti-air is impressive when considering that the ship gets Defensive AA fire on top of an already good DPS.
Overall, I just can’t wait to play this ship on the live server.

And again the chance of a reasonably authentic H-cl*** design as a premium/special BB was screwed up. So I will also consistently ignore this boat. In any case, I don’t understand why WG ignores all existing designs and instead brings one fantasy ship after the other. And then another ship with the 30.5 cm guns. Don’t we have enough of these in the game already?
Hmm, some interesting stats there. Looking forward to see how she performs in the live server
Interesting ship and will be another needed for my BB collection
Lol
