Supertest: German Tier VII Battleship Prinz Heinrich
5 min readHistorical background
Prinz Heinrich is based on the Ersatz Yorck-class of battlecruisers ordered by the German Kaiserliche Marine in 1916 as additions of the Mackensen-class. Due to the development of British battlecruisers, particularly the Renown-class, the Ersatz Yorck were redesigned with the primary change being the armament going from 350 mm to 380 mm guns.
Just like the Mackensen, the ships were never built except for some elements of Ersatz Yorck such as the midsection of the hull.
In World of Warships, Prinz Heinrich represents an Ersatz Yorck if it had been completed and after a hypothetic refit with a more modern superstructure and anti-air defense.
She follows the same design as the rest of the German battlecruisers and is also the first ship in the line to be armed with torpedo launchers. Her fourth turret is also able to turn at 360°.

Personal Opinion
Prinz Heinrich looks… alright. The 380 mm guns are really nothing great as they are the same as those of Bayern but at least, there is the battlecruiser dispersion.
The secondaries start looking nice with the 88 mm guns being replaced with 105 mm ones and the range once fully specced.

10 out of 10 – Always superb
I don’t care if the ship is good or just meh. I have all German tech tree ships and most of premiums (except CVs). I will search/ buy this entire line.
I wonder how this compares to the iter VII ship form main german BB line we have ingame… It has two more 380mm guns (one whole turret) and one more torpedo tube per launcher than Gneisenau…
