World of Warships Supertest: U.S. Tier IX Premium Cruiser Vallejo
3 min readSo I just realized that I completely forgot to cover Vallejo. Time to fix that issue.
Historical background
Vallejo is based on a preliminary design for the Worcester-class of light cruiser from the U.S. Navy. More specifically, Vallejo is based on Scheme D from December 1941.
Compared to the Worcester-class, Scheme D was only armed with five turrets and was equipped with catapults amidship.
In World of Warships, Vallejo is falling a similar archetype to Lazo as a DPS cruiser equipped with a Fast Take-Off Spotter that has a lot of charges and a very quick cooldown but in return, it only lasts for 60 seconds. She also gets improved ballistics compared to the other U.S. light cruisers.

(I miss the time when all camouflages had cool and diverse patterns…)
For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

Personal Opinion
As of right now, Vallejo appears to be a particularly solid DPS cruiser. Thanks to the reduced air drag, her ballistics are similar to that of Chapayev, making it easy to land shots at long range compared to other U.S. ships. Other than that, she also gets a 38 mm deck, giving her a much-appreciated survivability advantage as well as a special Rapid Take-Off Spotter to get extra range. While it doesn’t last as long as a standard Spotting Aircraft, the cooldown is incredibly short.
The only real downside of the ship is the lack of AP penetration but when you have that kind of damage output with HE, who cares?
