Supertest: Pan-European Tier X Destroyer Halland
4 min readThe Halland-class was a group of 2 destroyers built for the Swedish Navy in the 1950s. The ships mostly focused on anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare. Halland would be decommissioned in 1982 and scrapped in 1985.
The Colombian Navy received 2 modified ships based on the Halland-class. The biggest distinction was that the ships were carrying a 3rd 120 mm guns turret instead of the twin 57 mm Bofors.
Currently, the concept of European destroyers brings the following features:
- Very fast torpedoes with relatively low damage and long-range;
- Artillery is similar to that of American destroyers: quite effective in close combat but weaker than that of artillery-focused destroyers;
- The speed of the new destroyers is relatively low: 35 knots at Tiers VII — X. It can be increased by an Engine Boost consumable found in a dedicated slot, giving a standard bonus of 8%;
- Starting from Tier VII, the AA defense of European destroyers has a large area of effect and deals good damage;
- Presence of Repair Party: at Tiers V — VIII it is the same as on British destroyers, and at Tiers IX and X this consumable will be active for 4 seconds longer;
- Starting from Tier VIII, ships are equipped with Surveillance Radar in a dedicated slot. It has an action time of 15 seconds and a range of up to 7.5 km;
- Lack of Smoke Generator and relatively high detection range: when fighting with other destroyers for key areas it’s better to rely on Surveillance Radar and torpedoes.

The armor
The Halland has the classic high tier destroyer armor. The hull is 19 mm thick, the superstructure is 13 mm thick and the turrets are 6 mm thick.
Personal Opinion
Right now, the ship is really promising. Great firepower, 10 torpedoes with an absurd speed and MY GOD THAT ANTI-AIR!
I know that people aren’t convinced about anti-air these days but basically, this destroyer has a better AA than any cruiser. All of this is thanks to that flabbergasting (yes, I used that word) mid-range that has a 5.0 km range. To this, you can add the Defensive AA Fire. With the AA reinforcement, Basic Firing Training, the AA flag and with Defensive AA Fire active, you reach 1123 DPS that starts ticking at 5 km. Literally no other ship in the game can achieve that kind of DPS at such a long range.
Except for the armament, the ship has a decent HP pool compared to the lower tier ships that were always on the lower end of the spectrum. Her concealment matches the one of Grozovoi which is respectable and better concealment would be over the top in my opinion.
Overall, I can’t wait to play this ship.
Did You take a look at the colombian variant? Thats thing scare me 😉
