Supertest: Pan-Asian Tier VIII Cruiser Harbin

Historical background

The Harbin is based on the Soviet MK-6 AA cruiser design from the 1930s. This design had a main battery consisting of five twin turrets with 130 mm guns.

The ship is named after the provincial capital of Heilongjiang province in China.

In World of Warships, Harbin is representing the design in its early stages as she is using the 130 mm/50 MK-18. Her anti-air is a bit of a mixed bag though as she is both carrying Soviet AA mounts and 20 mm Oerlikons. Except that, she features the same characteristics as the previous ships and is also equipped with a Torpedo Reload Booster consumable.

Personal Opinion

Overall, the ship looks fairly decent. It’s definitely not a tier VIII Smolensk (thank God) especially with the lack of Repair Party and limited range but the firepower is quite nice and the concealment will give her a lot of flexibility.

Compared to the previous ships, her torpedo power is definitely more interesting with two triple launchers per side and the reload booster.
