Supertest: Pan-Asian Tier IX Cruiser Sejong
5 min readHistorical background
The Sejong is quite possibly based on a mix between two designs. The first one is a 7 500 tons design of light cruiser from 1939 and armed with twelve 127 mm/54 guns in six twin turrets.
The second one is an AA cruiser preliminary design (S-511-66: “5”/54 Cal. Cruiser – Scheme “C”). This design was calling for an 8 550 tons light cruiser armed with new 127 mm/54 guns in twin turrets equipped with a new auto-loading system and was the basis for the CL-154 class. It was, however, abandoned in March 1945.
The ship is a modified version of this design, being equipped with four quadruple torpedo launchers.
The ship is named after Sejong the Great, the fourth king of the Joseon dynasty of Korea.

Personal Opinion
The ship looks fairly solid on paper with good DPM and that sweet 32 mm side armor to protect her from battleship AP and HE from light cruisers and destroyers.
The torpedo armament also definitely looks nice with a bit more than 2.3 km of buffer zone to torpedo enemy ships from stealth. With the reload booster on top, that’s a theoretical 32 torpedoes in the water in a short time. Quite nice to demolish a troublesome battleship.
