Supertest: Projet 4-1 – Tier IX French Medium

2 min read

Today Supertest welcomes a brand new French Tier IX medium: Projet 4-1. This vehicle is unknown to me as if it’s historical or not, and no details were shared if it’s a Reward vehicle or what other plans Wargaming has for it.

Thanks to its great dynamic characteristics, the survivability is something to note: a top speed of 60 km/h, a power-to-weight ratio of 26.7 hp/t. It boasts 120 mm of frontal turret armour and is angled well, and its chassis has 55 mm of armour. As for hit points, it has 1750 HP and a view range of 380 m.

The Projet 4-1 is armed with a 105 mm gun that boasts a number of high parameters (including an alpha of 390 points). In addition, the tank sports a 4-shell drum, with the reload speed being 4 s for a single shell and 36 s for the entire drum. The penetration of a standard shell is 264 mm and with an APCR round at hand, you’ll pierce your enemy no less than 330 mm deep. As for dispersion and aiming time, it is 0.32 m/100m and 2 s respectively.

Good dynamics and a great weapon allow the Project 4-1 to control the battlefield, quickly respond to situational changes and cause damage to enemies, no matter the circumstances. It’s necessary to take into account the increased reload time inside the drum and the relatively weak armour but a true master will know how to get the vehicle’s strengths offset for its weaknesses.

  1. It’s the tier 10 bat chat with one less round and bad intra-clip but better dispersion and aim-time. It’s better than the tier 9 bat chat but very close to the tier 9 AMX 50 120.

For french tanks it’s all bout the soft stats though, gun bloom and terrain resistance will make or break it.

I do like the look though, it’s very Baguette, as if the french saw the Emil and said “I like it, take off the armor and give it croissants”

  2. Yup, and just like the terrain resistance ruined the 65t I have a feeling hidden stats will ruin this tank.

  3. Kinda reminds me of the Begleitpanzer, except with a big gun instead of an autocannon + ATGM.

  4. Cool TIL! The AMX-13 was insanely popular, it’s still in use today in some countries.

  5. IMO that stupid conehead looking turret ruined it way before WG did. It’s that kind of turret only mama could love.
