Supertest: Japanese Tier X Premium Destroyer Hayate

3 min read

Continuing our exploration of the new upcoming ships, let’s have a look at the Hayate, the Japanese Tier X Premium destroyer.

When the ship was teased covered with smoke, I thought that it was the Super-Shimakaze or V6 Project. This design was basically an improved version of Shimakaze produced on a large scale. It turns out that the ship is not the Super-Shimakaze and I have no idea of what it exactly is.

My personal theory is that the ship is based on the V6 Project but one of the torpedo launchers initially planned was removed to allow the installation of stronger engines and also maybe to compensate for the heavier new 127 mm twin turrets.

The armor

Hayate.JPG

She has the classic destroyer armor with a 19 mm hull, 13 mm superstructure and 6 mm armor on the turrets.

Personal opinion

Right now, I’m quite hyped for this destroyer. The firepower will be simply great since it’s the Japanese destroyer high alpha HE with a nice 4 seconds reload. On top of that, her torpedo power will also be quite solid with the 10 torpedo broadside.
Now, the maneuverability and concealment remain a bit eh but that’s not the end of the world. As for the consumable, I don’t think that anyone will go for the torpedo reload booster instead of the smoke.
