Supertest: German Tier IX Premium Destroyer ZF-6
3 min readSoooo… the ZF-6… before I talk about it, let’s first talk about ZF2/ZF6 as it was historically.
ZF2, initially referred to as ZF6 by the Germans, was the uncompleted hull of L’Opiniâtre, an uncompleted Le Hardi-class destroyer of the French Marine Nationale. The idea was to arm the ship with 5 single gunshield-protected 128 mm guns and 2 quadruple torpedo launchers.
In the end, work on that hull was never completed and the hull was demolished in 1944 to be later scrapped at the end of the war.
ZF-6… from what I could gather, it would be based on the TA 34 (II) which was the uncompleted hull of a 1938/1938 Bis Improved Le Hardi-class, also captured by the Germans. This would make sense as the dimensions of the ZF-6 (overall length, beam, freeboard and full displacement tonnage) do fit those of the improved Le Hardi as well as its engine power.
The only thing that wouldn’t really fit is the choice of the guns and mounts for the main battery but at this point… let’s just let it go.
For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

The Armor
The ZF-6 presents the classic armor protection of tier IX destroyers.
Personal Opinion
Well right now, the ship honestly looks solid.
The firepower with the reload booster will be very nice, the torps are the same as those of the high-tier French destroyers but with 8 of them and the concealment is also quite good.
I’m honestly looking forward to get my hands on her even though I can already see her getting nerfed.
Interesting… KM40 was a land-based flak gun (FlaK 40) and the most I could find quickly that there was only paper-projects for on-board usage. I am curious if this is a WG-dev-brainfart … ooor they found some REAL documents in the Militärarchiv
Just for the total confusion: in WoWS “KM40” guns used namely on Aegir, Siegfried, Odin, F.d.G, GK and Gneisenau 2nd hull – the turret model of those resembles of the LDrh LC/38 150mm turret; that was used on Type36A destroyers (and planned for “O” cl*** aka. Aegir, Siegfried…)
As we know: WG has “highly skilled historical specialists” and they do “(as much as) historical content”
It does have navalized mount called “LM40” (plus RPC mount prototype was in process before war end) but idk why they don’t use it?
