Supertest: German Tier IV Battleship Moltke
6 min readLadies and Gentlemen, don’t worry, I’m still alive. I’m currently on vacation… pretty much in the middle of nowhere with a horrible internet connection and until now, I didn’t have much time available to write articles. Don’t worry though, we are back at it again.
Also, for those that might be wondering what’s going on with the World of Tanks side, Harkonnen has… a whole lot of stuff on his plate right now between family and work so he just doesn’t have time to write stuff for The Daily Bounce at all.
Historical background
The Moltke-class was a pair of battlecruisers (Moltke and Goeben) of the German Imperial Navy and were basically an improved version of the Von Der Tann, being larger, faster, better armored and had an additional twin turret.
Moltke herself was laid down in December 1908, launched in April 1910 and commissioned in August 1911. Moltke participated in several major battles with the rest of the High Seas Fleet, including the battles of Dogger Bank and Jutland in the North Sea, and the Battle of the Gulf of Riga and Operation Albion in the Baltic Sea.
To prevent the Allies from seizing the ship, she was scuttled at Scapa Flow in June 1919.
If you want to learn more about Moltke, here is a video from Drachinifel covering the history of the ship:
Just like the rest of the new line, Moltke features battlecruiser dispersion and the same dispersion as Massachusetts and co for her secondaries.
Ship’s preview
For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

Personal Opinion
And this is a new speed record that the German battlecruisers broke. This time, it’s not by much but Moltke is able to reach 28.4 knots compared to 28.0 knots for Myogi.
While her speed is impressive, the firepower of the Moltke isn’t great compared to Kaiser for example since she has the same guns as Von Der Tann but a tier higher. With such guns, I don’t think that the battlecruiser dispersion will help that much.
For the armor protection, the difference with the other tier IV battleships isn’t that important at this tier so it’s fine.

I believe the whole intent of this new BB line is to compensate the lackluster primary armament firepower with exceptional secondaries (the key is probably the M***-like dispersion), so keep that in mind when judging the overall offensive capability.
I for one are really looking forward to these battlecruisers! Brawling 4 lyfe!
