World of Warships Supertest: Pan-European Superdestroyer Dalarna
4 min readHistorical background
Dalarna is a fictional design meant as an upgrade to the Halland-class destroyer. The ship has a real-world inspiration in the form of the ARC 7 de Agosto and ARC 20 De Julio. These ships were initially Halland-class destroyers ordered for the Colombian Navy but they received major modifications in their design. The most notable alteration was that the 57 mm AA turret was replaced with a third 120 mm twin turret for a total broadside of 6 guns. The ships also had one of the torpedo launchers removed and the remaining one was a quadruple instead of a quintuple launcher.
In World of Warships, Dalarna stays with that idea of having three turrets but on a stretched hull compared to the Halland. She remains smaller than Ragnar though.

Dalarna does not have an alternative fire mode. However, she gets, just like Yamagiri, the capacity to switch between two types of torpedoes during battles:
- Classic Pan-European torpedoes with high speed and low damage
- Slower torpedoes (still 70 knots though) and with shorter range but with higher damage
It takes 10 seconds to switch between each torpedo type.

For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

The Armor
Personal Opinion
As of right now, Dalarna looks absolutely bonkers. Her HE DPM is going through the roof, putting Småland to shame, she retains a fairly decent detection range and of course, retains the classic consumable set of Pan-European destroyers. As the cherry on top, she gets a really nice main battery firing range to farm enemy ships easily.
When it comes to the torpedo armament, while it isn’t a game-breaking addition, the additional torpedo type can always be nice for the extra damage when you particularly need something to die in one pass.
