I’ve received an email today from one of you readers with some information about the penetration changes currently under test on Sandbox 2.0. The author, who asked to stay anonymous, calculated all the values using the information provided by Wargaming on the Sandbox Blog, the information was not data mined neither this is a leak directly from theSandbox server. I’ve to admit this might have taken him some time to do, so a big thanks to him.
Please keep in mind these changes are still in test, meaning they might never come to the live server or come in a changed form
As you might be aware, Wargaming is testing new penetration over distance mechanics. The idea is to make armour thickness more relevant and get players to have close range engagements because they won’t have the penetration needed to get the job done.
Penetration values of AP and APCR shells begin decreasing at 50 m (instead of 100 m), and they lose 18% and 23% of their initial values at 500 m.
While I agree with the basics of this idea, it can also be something that might break the game and force World of Tanks into a path I don’t want. It’s not the first time this is being tested, on Sandbox 1.0 similar mechanics were tested but with much higher penetration loss over distance.
Wargaming is now testing with different values and an internal test is not enough, they need more information from us players to see if these are good or bad changes. This is the reason why we got it on Sandbox 2.0 and the reason that all of these values will most likely either change or not even come to the live server.
The information is organized by Nation and Weapon, where it contains the ammo type, old value/new value and the difference in mm and percentage. There might be some guns or ammunitions missing, but I’m only posting values that were calculated and sent to me.

so prohovorka camping line i am in scout and i spot ht with allot of armor even i have allot of tanks bh me to shoot him on 400-500 meters they pen 20 percent if i am lucky so scouts get screwed here also

Well, all these changes is WG trying to get a more specific role for each tank. I like these changes but also don’t like them. While it forces HT to get closer to engage in combat and pen, it makes things worse for “snipers gl*** tanks”, like the Grile 15 for example. Mediums are kinda in the middle, some are still good, some have lost a lot. But, these are still in test and might not even come to the server.
