Surprise Gift – Tier IX Reward Medium, Patton the Tank, from Wargaming and Vinnie!

Something a bit unprecedented is happening this year: as a special surprise gift from Wargaming and Vinnie Jones, a new tier IX reward vehicle will be available as a gift for all players — entirely free of charge! Simply login to the game and click the parcel in the lower-right of your garage between 22-31 December 2023, and the vehicle is yours to keep!

So, what exactly is this new tier IX reward, you may be asking?

Well, that would be the vehicle was originally speculated to appear as a rare drop in the Gift Terminal, similar to the Object 283 from last year — Patton the Tank (previously known as the M48A2 (120), aka M48A2/T54E2/T123E6), a tier 9 American medium tank! However, unlike the Object 283, there is no RNG involved here — as mentioned above, everyone gets to claim the tank for free!

That being said, it is worth noting: one similarity this vehicle does share with the Object 283 is its characteristics, or perhaps more accurately, its overall performance level. Don’t expect something strong or amazing from the vehicle — you’ll likely be disappointed if you do. But remember all the while — a free tier 9 is a free tier 9 nonetheless, just as with the 283 (except in this case, there’s no hoops to jump through just to get it!). Furthermore, Patton the Tank does at least feature good gun depression (at -10 degrees), reasonable penetration values for a tier 9 (242 mm/300 mm with AP/HEAT), a reasonable health pool (1,700 hitpoints), and acceptable DPM (~2,051 without any equipment/crew perks/etc).

The vehicle also received an updated model this morning, along with a unique 2D style. Notably, this style – which also comes with the vehicle for free – can be removed from the Patton/used on other vehicles if desired.
