World of Warships Supertest: Pan-Asian Tier IX Premium Battleship Sun Yat-Sen
3 min readHistorical background
Sun Yat-Sen is a what-if variation of the Sovetsky Soyuz-class battleships of the Soviet Navy. Unlike the Soyuz, her main battery is composed of three twin turrets with the same 457 mm guns as on Kremlin.
The ship is named after Sun Yat-Sen, the first provisional president of the Republic of China (the one that existed from 1912 to 1949). Both in Taiwan (Republic of China) and in the People’s Republic of China, he is still today widely praised and referred to as one of the greatest leaders of modern China. In Taiwan, he is even referred to as “Father of the Nation”.
Unlike the Sovestky Soyuz, she has a normal Damage Control Party and has access to a Defensive AA Fire consumable. She also has the same dispersion pattern as U.S. and German battleships.

For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

Personal Opinion
Right now, I’m not quite sure why one would want Sun Yat-Sen. Sure, she might have a Soyuz hull, one of the tankiest at tier IX and the same guns as Kremlin. The problem is that the guns would first need to hit something and that might be a bit of a challenge. Considering the standard battleship dispersion, 1.8 sigma, and the broadside of 6 guns, it will quite literally be as fun as with Gneisenau.
As I see it right now, the ship will be more of a punching bag than anything else.

Flamu in shambles
The thing that brothers me the most is how little the name make sense. The PLAN doesn’t name ships after people outside of a few auxiliaries and even if they did they would have most likely picked a more revolutionary name than Sun Yat-Sen (Sun Zhongshan in pinyin romanization).
Kind of seems like a T9 Preussen?
