World of Warships Supertest: Japanese Tier VI Cruiser Gokase

Historical background

Gokase is based on the “Agano-kai” design, also known as C44, from the Imperial Japanese Navy. As the name implies, this class was intended as an improved design over the Agano with an additional turret and stronger engines to maintain the top speed of 35 knots.

Initially, five ships were ordered in 1941 with two more added in September 1942. In the end, none of them were ever laid down or even named.

In World of Warships, we are getting a pretty good representation of the Agano-kai except for the speed that somehow goes up to 37.5 knots instead of what should have been 35 knots.

Personal Opinion

Compared to Agano, Gokaze looks somewhat better but not by much. She gets a nice concealment but the problem is that her gun DPM is still tragic, especially considering the ballistics and when compared to Dallas for example.
The torpedoes remain a pain to use because of the firing angles and when it comes to armor… well there is no armor.
