World of Warships Supertest: German Supercruiser Clausewitz
4 min readHistorical background
Clausewitz doesn’t have a historical background to speak of. Essentially, she is a larger version of Hindenburg with 210 mm guns and 128 mm secondaries. She also has improved armor, notably with a 50 mm deck. As the cherry on top, her secondaries have the same dispersion as those of Schlieffen.
Compared to other superships, Clausewitz doesn’t have an alternative firing mode. I really wish she was the standard and not the exception.
Ship’s preview
For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

Personal Opinion
As of right now, while Clausewitz definitely looks strong with her armor and strong guns, she is far from standing at the same height as the other superships.
Firstly, Clausewitz is suffering from the good old German syndrome of having poor firing angles. This is especially true when kiting as she needs to present a lot of broadside.
Secondly, she actually doesn’t get a particularly big improvement in terms of firepower compared to Hindenburg. Initially, we were told that the 2 400 alpha damage on the HE was a bug and would be fixed but…. it actually became a feature. Wargaming said that she might get it buffed based on testing results on the live server so there is hope.
Finally, we are hitting the big issue. All the other superships have an alternative firing mode or equivalent. Clausewitz is completely vanilla, free from any sort of real gimmick. The problem is that, as the exception, she might end up falling well behind things like Annapolis or Condé.
