World of Warships Supertest: French Super Battleship Patrie
4 min readHistorical background
Obviously, Patrie doesn’t have any real historical background to speak of. The ship is essentially an upscaled design n°3 Alsace-class battleship and armed with the same 431 mm guns as République.
The secondary battery is quite interesting as we get the same 152 mm triple turrets as République but also a twin version of the French 100 mm/55 modèle 1953. Now, I’m actually not sure if that twin mount is purely made up by Wargaming or if it was actually considered at some point.

As you can see here, Patrie is a particularly big ship and is in fact the second-longest ship in the game behind the United States.
Special Ability
Alternative firing mode settings:
- Ship’s speed +7%
- HE shells armor penetration +90%
- Main caliber guns reload time -20%
- Action time 50 s
- Required number of qualified gun shots: 12

For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

The Armor
Interestingly, unlike all previous French high tier battleships, Patrie doesn’t have hidden armored decks inside the bow and stern.

Personal Opinion
It might sound like French bias but… this ship is getting me reeeeeaally excited. A big Alsace with 2.0 sigma, the same guns as République and if it wasn’t enough, the supership’s special ability. Her ability is particularly interesting in brawling situations as it gives the ship an increased speed, reduced reload time of the main battery and also almost doubles the HE penetration of all her armaments. This last part means that even the 100 mm secondaries, with their 1 second base reload time can penetrate 32 mm of armor.
This all looks like an incredibly solid package although we will still have to deal with the 32 mm plating covering the ship.
