Supertest: U.S. Supercruiser Annapolis
3 min readHistorical background
The Annapolis is Wargaming’s interpretation of what could have been a follow-on design to the Des Moines-class cruisers. It is potentially inspired by the CA-C design study from 1941.
Compared to the design CA-C, Annapolis is larger and uses the Mk. 16 turrets with auto-loading mechanisms as well as modern secondaries and anti-air.
Special Ability
Alternative firing mode settings:
- Reload time: 40 s.
- Interval between shots: 1.0 s.
- Number of salvos in a firing sequence: 3

For the classic reminder, this is a ship in testing, anything can change so don’t look at her like she would already be released.

The Armor
Compared to Des Moines and the U.S. heavy cruisers in general, the citadel of Annapolis is in a spaced armor configuration.

Personal Opinion
Well yes. All of the yes. It’s a Des Moines on steroid with better armor, better firepower, ludicrous anti-air and amazing burst damage when needed. This ship looks like an absolute monster on top of being visually magnificent.
There is just one downside, the lack of improved acceleration from Des Moines’ Unique Upgrade. Sadly, you can’t have everything.
One thing for sure, she will be a really solid choice for the next Ranked Battles season.
