World of Tanks Supertest: FV205 – Tier X – British Tank Destroyer Details

The final confirmation was announced today by Wargaming: FV215b (183) is getting replaced by the FV205. Just like other recent replacements, owners of the FV215b (183) will keep it in their garage as a special vehicle, and receive the new tank for free.

FV205 – Tier X British Tank Destroyer

I’ve talked about the FV205 and FV217 in a recent article, and it seems its now confirmed: FV205 will replace FV215b (183) as the Tier X British Tank Destroyer. Wargaming continues the policy of two Tier X for the price of one, and everyone loves this.

I would still not make a direct replacement, but make the FV215b (183) an alternative Tier X tank destroyer to the FV4005 branch, enabling future players to get this iconic tank.

The FV205 will continue the concept of an armoured tank destroyer with a high damage per minute, like its predecessors while keeping a very similar play-style. The tank size is about the same as the French Foch, with gun parameters that will make this tank excel at either long or short distance.

Remember, if you still haven’t researched the FV215b (183), it’s time to start. This replacement is probably taking place on Update 9.21 scheduled for the second half of December.

  1. “This replacement is probably taking place on Update 9.21 scheduled for the second half of December.”

Which is what I was figuring as the earliest it would happen, since we just started hearing rumors about it just before 9.20.1 super test announcement. There would have been no time to test it and adjust it for this coming patch.

  2. I think that the DPM is wrong – with those numbers its 3700 (same reload as toroise, 20 more alpha) AND loader have better chances to survive; +38% hp/t and top speed only terrain resistance is slightly worse. Seems it rly is tortoise that was upgraded.

  3. I thought this tank was historically meant to get a 120mm, where did the 123mm come from? Did WG pull a random gun caliber out of their ass and say “That’ll do donkey”?:

And why does it only have 420 damage when every other 122mm has 440? Is this a sign of the 122mm damage being reduced in the future?

    1. I totally agree, there is no gun in historical records that is 123mm caliber for British tanks, or even any tank in the world. I think a good idea for this tanks gun would be the 128mm on the Conway with better stats or even the 120mm that is on the FV 215B.

      1. The 5.5″ on the Conway is 139.7mm. But I get your point. Personally I think they should also use the 5.5″ on the Super Conqueror to differnetiate it more from the FV215b and Conqueror
