World of Tanks EU: Valentine’s Mini-Marathon

4 min read

Seems Wargaming EU doesn’t want us to have a nice Tier VI tank this Valentine’s Day, so we are going to be awarded the cliché Valentine II, Tier IV Soviet light tank. If you are asking why we are the Valentine II, this was posted on the official forum:

Our goal here was to have a mini marathon (hence the name and its short duration) that newer players can also complete, which is why we went for a lower tier tank. This wasn’t supposed to be a full-fledged marathon and we tried to lessen the “hype” so to say, by explaining that you shouldn’t be expecting high tiers or anything out of the ordinary

What is even more funny is the fact any player who owns the tank, will get 100,000 credits, instead of 400,000 that it’s worth full price. Why? Because the tank will have 75% discount during that time, so if you have it… screw you, you get 25% of the value.

If you want to read and maybe even leave a post on the official forum post, you are more than welcome. In there you will find Wargaming trying to justify the poor choise of tank with:

  1. EU Region never had a mini-marathon for Valentine’s Day, we should be grateful.
  2. The whole event is just like a mini-marathon, but maybe it shouldn’t have had been called marathon because the reward is poor (H: top kek on this one).

I could mention other reasons, but I just can’t be bothered. I’ve said it in the forum and I’ll say it here: for some strange reason, Wargaming is afraid or just doesn’t want to reward players. Seems that having similar events across all servers is impossible and any mention to give a nice reward it’s like asking a God for a miracle… Still if you interested in having a free garage slots with a few other perks, here’s the event details.

  1. Hang on, it’s going to be 75% off anyway? Wow, the “prize” just got 75% worse.

  2. “that newer players can also complete”.The missions for the T-34-85M were not any harder. Why don’t they want to give us a tier 6 premium?

  3. this is only to teach new players to use premium ammo more regularly.
I can’t imagine any long-time players actually enjoying low tier battles, due to the noob-horde-meets-sealclubbers-chaos. even more sad is the fact, that WG managed to create a decent virtual – and playable – presentation of famous and several historical war machines, just to have them neglected and kick them to the unenjoyable oblivion that low tier battles are, just because real money is made only between the tier VIII premium copy-paste tank sales and the tier X premium ammo spam.

Most of the time, I feel sorry for the technical and military history and their heritage having landed in some incompetent Ruskie company’s hands…

  4. Even tier V tanks are spamming gold now days. I miss the old days when premium ammo was available only for gold and reserved for clan battles. Back then armor still meant something. 🙁
