Supertest: Concept No.1B Full Details
3 min readYet another Tier IX vehicle entered Supertest today, the Tier IX American heavy tank Concept 1B. The vehicle is a bit obscure, almost no information is available about it, nonetheless, I did my research as far as I could and confirmed some information.
The vehicle isn’t fake and it’s not any sort of M60A2 prototype. In the 1950s, early 1960s, a series of systems were being studied to be implemented in a new MBT that would eventually replace the M48. Sytems like the Ford Shillelagh system, the M60 Future systems and the Clifford Bradley designs. Clifford Bradley designs are where we find Concept No. 1, Concept No. 1A and Concept No. 1B, a series of low profile turret systems and KE guns, together with many more strange concepts, including what is called the American S-Tank.
Be advised that the M60A2 ‘Starship’ turret isn’t the same one as the Concept No. 1B. The turret design was taken from Concept No 1B and merged with the Ford Shillelagh system and that created four further concepts. Of the four concepts from that series, the Type B turret was used on what was then the XM66, modified it and went to become M60A2. While they are similar, this vehicle or turret is not a prototype M60A2, as it involves a completely separate design. I will share more information about these designs at a later date, in a dedicated article.
Note: I would like say thanks to Ed Francis for the helping and sharing information with me about Concept No. 1B.

I hope this is the beginning of a rework for the american heavy tree. I love the AE Phase One, but at the moment the T110E5 isnt worth the grind in my opinion.
