World of Tanks is my go-to game since Closed Beta way back in September 2010. I have never played a game for such a long time and the reasons for that are because I love tanks, the game was fun, challenging and Wargaming seemed to care about the game.  During these eight long years I was able to see World of Tanks rising from a “white logo branded t-shirt game at Tankfest” to the marketing monster it is today, but two questions keep hovering my head for the last two years: Has the game improved or did it get worse? And if it got worse, who is to blame?

How I feel about World of Tanks.

Ever since I’ve become a Community Contributor, I had the opportunity on many occasions to talk with the developers, and I tried to explain what I thought the game was becoming, what my pains as a player were, what EU and NA communities complain about and why there is a general feeling World of Tanks isn’t going in the right direction for a long time.

Unfortunately, nothing much happens from any feedback, being mine or from any other Community Contributors. Of course, I’m not just talking about the feedback we give when we have to review a new Premium tank, but all feedback we give when we have meetings at Tankfest or other events when we go to visit their offices or even at the online Q&A we used to do. We all understand the game isn’t ours, that ultimately Wargaming is who decides what its best for the game and they can’t just give in to all our feedback/demands, but there’s a constant not listening feeling we get or as Wargaming recently told us: “You don’t see the whole picture.

These words made me take a step back and start looking to the game with contempt, a game I’m supposed to be passionate about. I used to love playing World of Tanks, but now I have this hatred feeling for it, I have no fun at all grinding any new tank or even playing any tank in general and there is only one responsible for it – Wargaming, the creator of World of Tanks is, in my opinion, destroying its own game.

Time for a change.

Jordan Peterson wrote in his latest book, “12 Rules for Life – An Antidote to Chaos”, something I always believed and my grandfather taught to me when I was young: Rule 9: Assume that the person you are listening to might know something you don’t. Now you might ask, what can a book from a Canadian clinical psychologist and a Professor of Psychology at the University of Toronto and my grandfather have to do with all this?

Well, if you look at Peterson words, you will see Wargaming developers are not following Rule 9. Wargaming developers assume they know everything as if they have the whole picture in front of them and anyone who makes a comment about their work, is either wrong or against them. But are we? Maybe, just maybe, we all gave clear signs that we already know more about the game than the Developers think we do, and there are plenty of examples to give.

For example, let’s us just have a look precisely twelve months ago, when Object 268 v4 was already being tested behind closed doors and many, if not all, Community Contributors took to Wargaming and said: the tank is broken and overpowered. Their response was as expected: “You have never played the vehicle, you do not know how it will do on the live server.”. But shortly after it was released, the tank was dominating the battlefields wreaking havoc everywhere it would be and a lot of players just decided to take a break from the game. As usual, it took six months to get it sorted and by then the damage was done.

Let’s take it a step further, Type 5 Heavy, how long has this specific vehicle been tormenting the lives of so many players? Let’s take it another one, SPG reworks, how did Wargaming fix the issue? They tested one, let that number sink in, one new mechanic/version of the SPG’s and released it to the live server. I could go on, but I think you now understand my point.

The reason why I’ve decided to write this article it’s because I wanted to share a video with you from Will “Quickbaby” Frampton, the number one Community Contributor in World of Tanks EU. Even if you aren’t a fan of his content, give it a view because he hit the nail with this video.

In short, Wargaming has made the last two years a disaster for World of Tanks, the game is far worse than it was before and if the community doesn’t take a stand for it, I fear we won’t have a game to play in a few years and it will just get worse and worse.

  1. Main issue is why some premium tank over powered and MM. Also need to nerf some tier ten tanks like 268 v4 , 430u

  2. I think you are right and have explained very well both the issues we face in the game, as well as the feeling veteran players have experienced during past years. I totally relate to you.

    Another good example worth mentioning is tier 8 MM, which has been broken for a long time and still continues to be broken even now after re-calibrating premium vehicles with special MM, which they considered to be the issue back then. Clearly that was not it. I am sick of playing 70-80% of games against tier 10.

    I personally also hate how much the RNG matters, I would prefer to have a reduced RNG and have the game depending more on my skill. I hate the fact that sometimes I ding weak spots and other times I penetrate where I should have dinged.

    Last point I want to make is regarding why WG have the attitude they have. I am from Easter Europe and have been managing people and teams here for a while, having connections in most countries in the area. Trouble is that the managerial mindset around here is still heavily influenced by the communist era which is not that far behind us. So basically “any opinion not the same as ours is insulting our intelligence”. We also have big egos. This is not only happening in WG, but you will find it in most big companies from Easter Europe. And I am aware that you can’t make everyone happy but what they are doing now is just similar to putting on their blinders and trying to move this game forward in a dictatorship regime, without caring what their players say. And history taught us that these kind of regimes have never worked, which is why I believe that if the game won’t die in a few years, the number of players will anyway reduce considerably. To avoid it, they need to change their attitude and probably their management.

  3. To be honest, he has a point. I mean, if we consider that always there will be someone that won’t be happy with something about some game, and therefore, demand such mechanic to be changed (among other things), that would only mean that the game eventually would become broken trying to please everyone.

    For example, people hate artillery in this game, however, let us consider that in clan wars it’s quite useful. In random battles is a mess, annoying and it won’t fulfil it’s whole potential, therefore, it’s a mechanic for only some game modes.

    Now, just for a second, let us ***ume that all the game is actually balanced, artillery included. Any change to it’s structure, by the demand of the user (the player) would mean, as a result, instability in the game. Considering that argument, he has a point. (But, it’s not the case). In that matter, I think he is right. Everyone will tell you what they think is wrong with the game (the sad part is that most of the community agrees in many things related to the game state).

    The situation of World of Tanks, however, it’s far from being balanced, desirable and not even close from “the best place it has ever been”, therefore, a huge “nope” comes to my mind about his statements, and I totally agree with you and the community.

    So, yeah, the game is not fine, not even close to be “ok”. I think that wargaming should stop hiding themselves with the excuse of “this game is free to play” so they can make us of all of these poor “strategies” like “giving us the chance” to test some vehicles (for example), and, instead, hire game developers that would test the game before launching anything at all into the live server (in this scenario, we have plenty of examples, from the Defender to the 268 V4).

    I wonder if they have any quality control at all, at least, related to the game, because it’s quite obvious that related to the merchandise and all the items related, they really pay attention to details.

It is a bit exaggerated at this point to say the game is dying, but it is definitely on a downward trajectory, and I don’t think this is going to change as long as Wargaming does not learn from past mistakes or listen to their player base. Perhaps this will change in future because I am sure their revenue will continue to drop as more players leave and the existing players are less and less prepared to pay money, but I am not to optimistic at this point. The game seems to suffer from poor management.

I know how you feel, I have literally typed for hours on the forums and although it sometimes feels the players are listening I NEVER get any feedback (the occasional edited or deleted comment) from WG and I KNOW DAMN WELL THEY AIN’T LISTENING. The only response I ever got was from Phelan. It was over the Ala’s Arrival issue. They had promised a full fancy crew for one of the Polish heavies if you got to the Tier VIII before a certain date it was about two months and I ground my heart out to get there. Once there, I got a single commander. Upon researching the issue on the forums I discovered that the full crew stated as the reward in the game client was incorrect but that they had known that at WG for at least one month and had not bothered to do anything about the in game client displaying the wrong reward. To me that was false advertising and I believe that when you enter into one of WG’s grinds for a reward you are entering into a contract.. They, (WG) are offering to recompense you for fulfilling a very specific set of requirements. That is a contract. Any case I was absolutely fuming, they had allowed us all to grind towards a prize they had no intention of providing and yet they had not even bothered to rectify the supposed mistake in the game client or announce the issue on the portal. Upon investigation I found that the mission in question had NEVER been announced on the portal and I can tell you I just got the 6 year badge and I have NEVER known a mission not be announced on the portal. Then I got too thinking, this was all win, win for WG. They would have had people grinding their new Polish range so it would be in game plenty and they would get the hours of play from those attempting the mission they seem to crave. Most illuminating of all, once you received only the commander with 6th sense you would really have to buy the other 3 crew members for GOLD. Of course you would you would not put a commander with 6th sense with 75% crew would you? I complained both direct to WG and all over the forums and I even tried to get a petition started to make WG honour their commitment. Phelans response (admittedly to somebody else) was simply, “If you do not like it you do not need to choose to play” Which pretty much says it all………

    forme, P2W, imbecile premium tanks and premium ammo along with moronic armor profiles is what destroy this game.
    All those are pure p2w and VERY BAD for a “F2P” game.

    also…some honorable mentions are RNG, MM and maps…
    fArtilery….is just annoying and nothing more.

  7. First of all, the title is way to manipulative – the game is not going to be destroyed. As far as I see why you write so, I am a bit disappointed from you as you usually are not the click fanatic. But ok.

    Honestly I have to disagree somewhat. WOT ever was an unbalanced game and will ever be. Any new content is prone to disturb what the majority sees as unbalanced. But most of those players who now “cry” seem to have forgotten
    invincible Type 59 and SP (at least from low tier perspective),
    seem to have forgotten 10 top tiers and 1-3 low tiers (and I do not mean Chaffees),
    seem to have forgotten 5 or even more artillery per side one-shotting everything with premium ammunition.
    Honestly broken tanks like the mentioned Type 5 were ever existent.

    And you know what? A Type 5 Heavy is much less anoying than top tier players in a 3-5-7 MM shooting gold from the very start!
    In my eyes one of the worst things WG implemented into WOT (a good idea going wrong way in my eyes) was Marks of Excellence. Everyone wants to have these stripes and stars and to keep their damage output high premium ammo is fired. And the same players shooting gold complain about the Type 5 Heavy shooting gold (which usually is always fired on with gold, btw. – did you ever play Type 5 Heavy over a certain amount of games? My win rate in 105 games is about 47 % in it – it is very situational and even with full gold loadout you have many situations where you cannot do much).

    Then everyone seems to forget that the player base changed so much – players like us who are with the game for many years have nearly unlimited ressources (credits, gold, tanks, experience) and meet players with none of this (see gold ammo, but also map awareness etc.). What do these players do? They watch videos, gather information. And they are told that when a Type 5 Heavy or an Object 286 V4 comes along with the enemy team, ALL IS LOST. It is not, but this is exactly the way those players horde together on one side of the map and play …

    Ever wondered why most games end in a stampede? Take Murowanka, southern spawn, encounter (white flag in the left middle) and even the same with standard mode. Three players go to forrest on the eastern side, the very rest of the team gathers in the south-western quarter of the map and battles a bit with some enemy tanks around flag while the majority of the enemy team breaks through eastern forrest and mops up everyone. Don’t believe? I made a list yesterday – 7x Murowanka from this side – ALL went this way! ALL !!!
    I mean, there are players involved with how many battles? 10k? 20? 50? They played this map how many times? 1000? Even more? BUT STILL THE SAME BEHAVIOR!

    I will not say WG does everything right, but to be honest many of the problems of the game come from the players!

    My favorite problems with the game are (roughly in this order):
    – gold ammo spam
    – unprecise guns when fully aimed thus preventing aimed shots at those remaining weakspots (it should not be too hard to allow fully aimed precise shots while making shots not fully aimed a lot more unprecise)
    – idiocy and lack of understanding for the game (“Kill not Cap !!!” – once again to make more damage for those MoE – and many more).

    A Type 5 Heavy in more cases than less is a good target much more than a threat, if you play properly and your team knows what to do. But hey, “I don’t care about winning – I want my WN8 to rise and three-mark this tank” – this you can read on forums like Reddit everywhere, and it is the good players saying so. Type 5 Heavies and Bobjects my be a problem, players are a much bigger one.

    And a last one – such tanks as the Defender or the Chrysler, which in my humble opinion are far away from being OP – became this mythos because CCs like QB and others pointed out that they are so much. As much as I like to watch videos from them, let me explain why:
    Did you ever see QB (let’s be him the scape goat for this example) use a normal 100% crew? Best without 6th sense? Did you ever see him show a tank with good and bad moments? No! It is always a 5 or more skill crew with top equipment, a nice loadout of premium ammo and of course you will see some “ace-tanker gameplay”.
    Especially players new to the game or with “less capabilities” with say here “well, this finally could be a tank to suck less”. Just do a mental calculation how many Defenders WG would have sold with their video or with QB’s video.
    I am sorry to say that many of the hypes CCs criticise were exactly created by themselves. You CCs serve as an excellent motor for such hypes. I understand that in a way this is what you believe in and what in a way you need to keep your content alive, but you serve the system you criticise in the same moment.

    Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to say it is your fault (alone), but you should keep this in mind. I am no content maker, so I have nothing to lose here – but maybe instead of adding to a hype it would have been better to step back in some moments? Hard to say for me, as I am only a player.
    But this whole discussion, while I very much hope that it will provide to make WOT a better game and make it great again, will also suffer from individuals who have their very own perspective (such as me, agreed) and being able to be very loud, in such influencing those who always wanted to rant about something.
    Seriously, many of the problems in this game were much worse in former times, but with less loud players, with less experience and ressources, and with a lot more tolerance amongst players. Because, as pointed out, players in this game are as much a problem than the problems themselve. But as usual, I ***ume the player is the only innocent in his perspective, true? (It wasn’t me, it’s the others – always).

    Sorry for this long rant!

    WORLD OF FU MM. Game is no longer as enjoyable as it was due to WG GREED. They will never listen. They don’t care. Don’t give them any money. They have killed the golden goose. F**k em.

  9. I have 84k battles in WOT, 137 premiums/specials in garage , FC, and XO in clan , active since 2012.
    WG had ruined game by several things:
    -premium ammo ruined value of armor and HP…then they buff armor on wrong tanks ….
    -TD* should be all about cammo and gun handling /WHEN STATIONARY/ why any med should not have better pen or gun handling than TDs of same tier? good example …T140 killing JPZ in hull-down from front just by using gold ammo and having better aim on move than JPZ when stationary….
    – lights should be lights …good camo , best speed view range , low HP…but not TD guns….
    -268/4 had ruined game more than DEFENDER , TD that was played like medium and in CW you see 15 286/4 rushing one side….

    WG should:
    -penetration should be +/-10% , damage +/- 10% ,…
    -gold ammo limited to 10% of total ammo capacity or to have 4 types of rounds / regular, enhanced , special-gold , HE/
    – tiers limited to +/- 1
    – introduce awards for in game achievements / unlocking first tier X …/, or for loyalty… number of battles won…20 000 premium /special tier VIII this will keep people in game….
    -earning of premium tanks seems reduced….fix it
    get back to basics of tank cl***es….meds mobility and medium guns / pen ,aim time damage/ , heavy tanks armor /damage/ low speed low view range: lights speed/view cammo / low guns ; tds cammo /big guns with good aim times / ….
    ARTY is MEDICINE for all OP tanks, players that use non-playable areas to gain advantage, resolving dug in enemy…..
    use of SPALL LINER should reduce effect of arty and direct fire HE shells
    -russian gun sindrome….you struggle to hit IS7 at 400m and he hits and pens hull-down LEO from the move…and similars….

  11. Well i stopped playing about two years back reason for this:
    “Fantasy” tanks, tanks that where built i very low numbers or only gave been on a blueprint are now dominating the game. You dont need to be much of a tank nerd to know abut the Tiger and it had its problems but back when things where happening for real a Tiger could hold its own against other tanks, havent looked at stats but i guess it is doing pretty mediocre in the game.
    OP premium tanks, back in the day we did have premium tanks they could excel in one area and lose out in another, played right you could do great but good player could take you out without him/her having to use gold ammo. E25 was taken off because it was overpowered, sure but it could be handled.
    Getting up the ranks, had to play lots of T6 games to finance my T10 games, even without any premium ammo, consumables and so on, when you got that far it was not fun playing mid tier no more.

    I am sure it is more but that was the main reasons

I have just come to accept that after a certain point, probably type 5 and op premiums like patriot and 252u, that wg DOES actually know everything about the game, in that they know that with their combined 3 IQ they couldn’t piece together a solution to solve any of the problems facing it. Instead of opening up to the community or allowing ccs to help with balancing/reworks, they cashed in. Lootboxes for holidays, more op premiums, new tank lines that sucked at the start but were fantastic and a little better than everything else once at tier 8/9, you know, the tier you have to free-xp to get to if you want it soon and pain-free. Even if this might not be completely correct, I’m not giving a penny to wg. I hope they crash and burn after ruining our favorite tank game for so long just to screw a few bucks out of those who stuck around and loved it most to the very end.

Hi in my opnion… (sorry im nothing very good in english) The problem with the wargaming is in your opinion change like this: The current map is nothing good, go to rework but only one base have advantage and the other nothing. Ah im launch another tank! But this tank is absolute overpower! (That example: VK 168 premium with gun of 650 or 700 i dont remember, the community is revolt about this case and the project is frezze…). The MM is so broken +1/-1 is so ideal. About the archive res mods the wargaming the best solution is locked or remove this folder and anyone archive can be installed in the program of the game. many situations to change and none response….The game is just fall….

  14. Same, for me (MM, RNG, GRIND), except I just play arty for the most part… and hope they will fix the game. Thi ng is, WoT devs don’t want to listen, the y only want to find ways to get your wallet open, and that to them is built in frustration, buy premium (Russian) and convert free xp.Granted they give a lot of boosts by way of missions, but tbh.. I won’t even consider buying a premium account – the econmy is a farde. They are not up front, they are devious – look at the SirFoch incident.. calling him homophobic – that coing from a country where homophobia is rifeThey need to get there house totally sorted and cards on the table – but hey, we got pretty maps that we were all screaming out for ???

I ve been playing Wot since 2014 and i witnessed it becoming ****.The mm is trash since the game launched and it still wasnt fixed properly.The arty should be removed or nerfed (again) so heavy tanks can play in peace.The obj 268 v4 hasn t been nerfed well and its still op.They nerfed my tanks that i grinded for so long and made me stop playing them or even sell them ,examples: t57 heavy,is7,e50m.I ll probably stop playing for a while until the mm and arty will be fixed.

  18. As already stated on ritas blog, forums etc:
    SEA servers now have +/-1 mm and its one of the best things wg have ever done. I have the odd tier 8 tank fight tier 10s but its rare. They have obviously already rebalanced the penetrations, as, strangely enough you still require x amount of gold ammunition.

    As a beta tester, what made the other veteran unicum players leave the game 2-3 years ago, was the change from more skill to more rng influence in any battle. The rng influence was increased to a claimed 25%. Also the +/-2 mm that began to occur for 80% of battles, it was certainly no fun buying a panther 88 with hard earned cash, to find yourself literally being owned every game by tier 10s.

    Whats upsetting players now?.
    Other servers haven’t got the new mm yet.
    The claimed 25% rng.
    The broken tanks, including the obvious russian bias (one dev admitted that in 2012 the russian server community complained their own nations tanks were inferior, so the devs set about fixing this, yes in 2012!).
    The various game economies, from gold ammo you buy with credits to improve your contribution to team damage per battle ergo improve team chance of victory, to bonds, that many players are stockpiling for no apparent use.

    Whats upsetting me as a veteran beta?.
    The overall game meta. Maps designed for russian armour and camping. Russian high tier tanks can drop hulls into dips in the ground and use turret armour, speed and firepower to dominate. Russian heavy tanks as fast mobility as a medium, russian mediums with heavy tank armour and firepower, russian tank destroyers with heavy tank armour, russian light tanks with medium tank turret armour.

    The camping and static combat created by WG m***ages the players use of gold ammunition, however this is false economy as players are dropping the game.

    The three spgs every damned battle and invisible TDs that are always at the rear of the maps. Both cause camping meta.

    The unreliability of my tanks, guns etc because of rng. Yesterday, as an absolutely cl***ic example, I roll up on enemy base in lorr40t, 3 shots remaining, full health, meet an indien panzer and actually said to myself, poor guy, I’ve got him so badly dominated at this 100m range, he was sitting in clear open terrain. All three shots bounced off his frontal armour, two in the hull, and one trajectored upwards into turret. Of course, i was then killed during the horrible reload time. Despite my level of skill, and gutsy playstyle getting me to the enemy base in the first place!.

    WG encouraging players to collect tanks, and then making it impossible to collect them. Certain tanks just never get offered to players, who may have already spent thousands of dollars on the game. WG fail to acknowledge their patrons, and consistently run marketing campaigns for the free players, in an attempt to get them spending. And fair enough, the free mmo player base is huge, and potentially, well, potent. But comeon, us patrons have been oiling this machine for 8 years now!.

    Changes announced:
    Hopefully +/-1mm becomes permanent for all servers.

    Rebalancing of ALL tech tree tanks to occur in 2019 (dev q and a). Unfortunately no mention of premium tanks, where patrons tend to spend most of their time, I’m playing tier 6 to 8 premium tanks 90% of battles.

  19. I have been playing for 3 years. I don’t buy gold rounds and all I hear now is it bounced , didn’t go thru. And when I get killed i never know where it came from.
    But it’s free and kills the time in the winter. Waiting for golf season to start

  20. YEah I didn’t like old arty a lot. I have a few good memories, for example this one time dragging my gw tiger from behind a corner and blasting a new hole into the back of o-ni. Now playing arty ain’t fun anymore, and enemy arties are more annoying than ever. They don’t kill you, they torture.
    I don’t have a big problem against gold spammers, it’s in the game and available for everyone. I mean when you play is-3 your normal pen is 225, or something (which is pretty good for tier 8 heavy) how the hell are you gonna pen a german or japanese tier 9 and 10 superheavy tanks? The mm sure sends a lot of those tanks against you, cos it’s +2 for tier 8 tanks all of the time. Hell I even shoot those japanese super heavies with gold even if I play tier 10 td, just cos I know they sure as hell will be shooting gold right back at me

  21. I am speaking for years now how Wargaming is destroying game and ways it does.
    List of things they did is quite a long oen, but we need take look at it from quite different perspective – one of a law.
    All Wargaming was doing last 3-4 years was making ways to make u pay more for game and then make your payments obsolete.
    In short they are making fraud unheard of in gaming world and its time for EU commisions and US ones to start investigating them.
    Here is what they do – u pay premium time so u can have more xp and credits earned and u also buy at least one premium tank. But what happens then – your premium tank gets nerf so for example tier 8 prem tank like Lowe or T26E4 is 90% of time battling tier 10s. Like its not bad already even when u fight tier6-8 tanks u get head on penetrated in frontal armor or turret by shells which should have trouble scratching paint from u.
    Then u go grind tanks which seem powerful – like t62a for example. Many players get it in rather short time and someone from wg decides its time to nerf t62a and throw down the toilet all time u spent, all money u spent (premium time and gold spent for shells or consumables/gear) so t62a which still has good stats in client is now real piece of **** as on live server it has quite different stats. So now your t62a is slow, not mobile as before, easy to penetrate even in turret by tier 8 tanks and same time it has less alpha dmg then lower tiers or new tanks in same tier of other or even same nation.
    So what wg is doing is – m***ive fraud to make your current playing and money investment in game obsolete so u need spend more time and money.
    WG will say they have right to change tank stats. Its lie.
    First their eula says – domestic law and international law are above wg eula.
    It means they cant go against consumer rights law which in fact protects us from this kind of behavior. WG is marketing game as something it is not. After u spend money and time on some part of product they change it to make it worthless or uninteresting and against reason why u choose to play game and pay for it. They same time make money from various resources just on fact that enough players are in game and big enough number of them pay premium time and buy stuff. So it goes for all players paying ones or free to play ones as free to play also brings in revenue just indirectly.

    If for example Mercedes or BMW would market cars to be with certain stats – speed/maneuverability/etc and then after short period they start selling them different then marketed, they would pay huge fine and even face charges for m*** fraud.
    WG is doing same and they are free from any kind of prosecution.

    How bad are things with wg says my example – i was multiple times topics closed as i apparently insulted someone, and then wg master admin would come after like 10 days or more arguing with them about it and say i am right in appeal, but the dmg is done and topics stay closed.

    When i asked to change my mail as provider i used was closed over night, i had to argue 3 years with them about it and when i finally said screw it i will give u all info u ask and more – including bank statement of payments made on account which is directly against international and domestic law on privacy (which i gave with all possible info on it) they refused to change my mail as i not gave bank statement on which they can see purchases older then 6 months?? Bank statement was from current year january-may with purchases made in that period and same info on all purchases in previous years. When i asked them how they can refuse as there is nothing in their own eula about it and as its ******ed cause same document will be valid in a month time, master admin answered – yes i know but its our right o go against eula.

    So they are fraud company and soon i hope EU commission will deal with them and possibly charge for fraud on international scale.

  22. I agree with you. I still am fond of the game, but I have no interest of playing it anymore. Over 30k battles, and only a handful of battles played over the last year. I just logged in a few days ago to pick up the T-50-2(?). Not played for a few months.

    I did really enjoy the game in 2014/2015. But had already lost interest when the swedish tech tree was introduced. And now a couple years later so much new stuff has been introduced into the game that I have absolutely no interest anymore. But with so much time and money invested in the game I still read news about the game. I do not like introduction of things like: directives, reserves, girl crews, gold ammo for credits, pay2win stuff, introduction of mission tanks like the T-55A and sr-22, and the list goes on. Basically I want the game as it was in 2013/2014.

    It seemed for a while that every time I logged into the game I got a free tier X (with all the changes in tech trees).

    I feel sad for this game now. Thankfully I have a new fresh game that I play. It’s called World of Warships:-)

  25. Yea i think the same way too. U cant pen commanders hatch with regular rounds of some vehicles. Thats completely insane. Completely overpowered the japan heavies. Less economy with higher tiers (mostly loss). Gotta buy prem rounds to pen armor. This game is no more free to play, its pay to win now!

  27. Frontline had single tier battles. Generous rewards. Off course they killed it. They will bring it back in 2019, rebalanced for gold spamming and credit loss.

    excellent summation Tim. I agree completely that matchmaking, arty and lack of map variety are three of the biggest issues.

  29. I would and many times did put 2+ perk commander with 75% crew (getting to 100% is barely 15-20 battles, even below 10 with boosters active (prem account lowers it even more))

  30. Give an option to play without arty and arty lovers can play with themselves. Also, nerf the prem tanks that need it and offer refunds.

    I loved it back when arty could 1 hit me.
    There were only a few OP and P2W stuffs.
    Now the mm sucks, the HD maps sucks, arty sucks, tank sucks.

  32. Its quite easy to fix the game…just remove arty and watch people come back in droves. All my friends quit because they got tired of dealing with arty.

  33. i don’t like the constant power creep with new vehicles – the new ones are always just a little better than older ones
    (played a round with my “newly buffed” KV-5 and had to face a defender – you all can imagine how much chance and fun i had vs this thing)
    i don’t like the fact, that they try to fix tier 8 tanks vs tier 10 tanks and totally forgett about the tier 6 tanks (and so on)
    i don’t like the fact, that most tanks became complete useless until they are fully teched out (forced to free xp or prem mun all the time)
    i don’t like the fact that you have less chance vs a strong grinding player if you are a casual player – for example crew skills (i became a casual player because at some time i lost the fun – and recognised all the other fun games on my pc)
    -> claus kellermann did a good video about the fact how a tank with a stock crew and no consumables vs a full teched crew an premium consumables competes
    i don’t like the fact that there are WW2 tanks fighting vs post war (1960s) tanks

  36. I have a few notions about WoT. Based on no clear knowledge of where the reality for WoT/WG actually is:

    1) Life Cycle
    Video games have a natural lifespan, as players move on to newer/different games. The longevity of WoT is pretty impressive, in that it has survived for as long as it has. Pretty sure I saw a post a ways back that ***essed where WoT was in the life-cycle and maybe WG feel the game is in the latter part of life (decline) & are just interested in generating income while they still can. The best way to finagle a few more bucks is to release the “next big thing”, a better/stronger/faster/OP-er (#newWord) tank.

    2) WG’s key market
    The focus of changes to WoT possibly focuses on WG’s primary market (in their eyes). The effect on other/peripheral markets aren’t of interest. Particularly as the balance of income is likely shifting from the original “cash cow” servers towards the RU market as that society becomes more affluent. Does the RU server population feel the game is as broken as everyone else does?

    3) Just too broken?
    I’m not sure that the game can be fixed. If we ***ume WG don’t want to risk a lawsuit by making substantive changes to bought-for-real-money premium tanks. This then becomes the anchor around which any revisions must be made. Rather than taking a clean sheet approach to “rewriting the rules” of WoT all WG can/want to do is tweak the odd bit here & there.

    Just a few musings

  37. Sorry if this has been earlier, but I tell couple of things, that couses most of my troubles:
    I do not have premium tanks, except those that have chance to get free from missions, etc.
    With regular tanks If i play Tier VI, I get Tier VI-VIII matches, if I play tier VIII, I get Tier VIII-X matches, this happens 9times out of ten. I do not believe that it is only my bad luck, I think game let it happen, because I do not have premium tanks.
    I hope fair battles, that I FEEL, i have a role to make my side to win. Ok, I do understand that there is VI against VIII, but it should be divided, that if I play 40 matches with VI, i´ll get 10 matches with IV/V/VI, 10 with V/VI/VII, 10 with only VI and 10 with VI/VII/VIII
    now it is something 5 other and 35 with VI/VII/VIII and it makes me angry, I can´t do much with my VI, when there are VIII coming through. And when winning the round gives most of the credits, It is only luck, if I´m on winning side.
    Really hard to grind my tanks better.
    I had these rental premium VIII tanks, and somehow then i get more battles with VI and VII, and that proved it is not my bad luck, but wot gives you better MM when you have premium tanks, and that is sad.
    Best games are those that people who wants to play without money gets equal “rights” among the paying players, and that is what WOT is not.

  39. I left wot when the went from two to one servers in NA. They kept promising they would make it work, though it was physically impossible. The lag made it totally useless in CA. Don’t know or care if they ever fixed, have now moved to the midwest, but don’t care to even see if it runs here after all their lies.

  40. Do you think all of these changes have facilitated all of those 15-0 or 15-2 (one-sided matches) that are very often nowadays?

    To me, the meta is way too different that a single player’s impact is often ditched by the aggressiveness of both teams trying to lemming rush each other.

  41. World of tanks blitz got a new 5.5 update ohh you wondering what they added? Glad you ask it was nothing like 2 tanks in tech tree AND 9 tank premium yeah PREMIUM! removed “old” tier 1 tanks and they are just going to kill this game too soon yeah I’ma go play war thunder now byr 😉

    Dude! I have 60 premium/reward/gift tanks in my garage & get exactly the same issue. As do players with WAY more prem tanks. If you take a moment to check everyone is getting screwed over by MM, particularly in tier 8.

  43. I think that if they changed matchmaking to +1MM and allowing only 1 arty per team that is forced to carry half of its loadout as smokegrenades with same reward-functions as in Frontline should have been inplemented a long time ago.
