Supertest: M-IV-Y American Premium Tier VIII Heavy Tank
3 min readNever a new branch is introduced before a brand new Tier VIII Premium is tested, and the new American heavy tank M-IV-Y is here to do that job! The vehicle will be an exclusive for Holiday Ops 2022 lootboxes, so if you are interested in getting it, start saving up money and pray to the gods to get lucky when opening those lootboxes! On a side note, the vehicle was introduced to Supertest but at the same time, it is already available to see in Update 1.14.1 Common Test, so if you want to check its armour profile, just check Tanks.gg.
This is a Premium representative of the branch in the U.S. Tech Tree: vehicles that feature the new reserve track mechanic. Starting from Tier VII, these vehicles have an additional track attached to the main one. This allows the vehicles of the Yoh branch to continue moving (although with a speed penalty) even if both main tracks are destroyed.
This Tier VIII Premium vehicle is armed with a 105 mm gun that can cause 360 points of damage per shot. The penetration value of the main AP shell is 218 mm, and the penetration value of the special APCR shell is 247 mm. The aiming time is 2.5 s, and the gun dispersion is 0.4 m. The reload time is 11.3 s.
The thickness of the frontal armouring reaches 279 mm in the turret and 177 mm in the hull, but don’t forget about the rational angles and the turret shape, which add to the overall protection of the vehicle. The vehicle’s durability is 1,500 HP. The vehicle, which has a specific power of 18.1 h.p./t, has a top speed of 42 km/h.
In terms of gameplay, the M-IV-Y is a typical heavy tank, armoured, moderately manoeuvrable, and has a good gun. At the same time, don’t forget about the reserve track and the influence it will have on the vehicle’s playstyle. For a new player, this feature will mainly be protection against a failure that facilitates escape from a seemingly stalemate situation, while for an experienced player, the combination of armor and the ability to move even with a destroyed track can open up new combat technics, even if they are risky.
All characteristics are with a crew trained to 100% and subject to change before the final release.
A few other hidden stats that are not shared by Wargaming are the penalties you get with the new mechanics. Here’s the current hidden stats for these, and remember these are Supertest stats and might change in the future:
- Suspension Repair Time
- Main Track: 6.02 seconds
- Reserve Track: 12.03 seconds
- Penalty for one main track destroyed:
- -25% maximum speed
- -50% engine power
- -50% suspension traverse speed
- Penalty for both main tracks destroyed:
- -50% maximum speed
- -75% engine power
- -75% suspension traverse speed
- Penalty for repairing while on the move is 2 times bigger if speed is above 12km/h
- Penalty is removed if vehicle speed is less than 5 km/h
- Hitpoints of the reserve track is 50% of the main tracks
Looks good, but on a completely unrelated note: i have found a 2.0.0.0 folder under “mods”. Is there going to be a WoT 2.0 in the near future?
This tank may be many things, but pretty ain’t one of them. 😉
Oh, and the penalty for even a single destroyed main track seems pretty significant atm.
Be prepared to turn like a brick once it happens.
Wargaming doesn’t make mod folders in advance, only when the patch itself hits.
So no, I don’t think there’s going to be a 2.0 anytime soon.
They could easily make tech trees for this game. But no instead its one after the other premium tank.
**** this game dude. **** those greedy developers. Some ingame purchases are OK; and having a subscription as well. .. But this game is heading into APB reloaded.
So bad!
In the video, WG released in mid september they said, the new branch will start from the T1 Heavy, so the new tank is a Tier 6. Now u said, it will start from Tier 7. Is ur Information reliable or just a mistake?
The new mechanic will be introduced with the Tier VII, the branch will start at Tier VI. That is what the text is reflecting, so its correct.
