World of Tanks Supertest: Preferential MM Tanks Changes

2 min read

A few days ago several preferential matchmaking tanks received some changes on Supertest. Instead of rushing into posting just bits of information, I’ve waited to see if more of these changes were posted so I could have a complete list of changes.

As you might remember, Wargaming wanted to completely remove preferential matchmaking tanks from the game, by buffing these tanks so they could use the normal 3/5/7 matchmaking template. Soon after the Community took to torches and pitchforks to show their discontent with these changes. Took Wargaming almost two months to let players know they have decided to back up on that decision and instead they will try to buff these tanks while keeping the preferential matchmaking.

Several tanks have already been changed but the following ones received further changes to make them competitive.

  1. 112 is alfuw to be played with vs 8 tears as is-3 defender and so on vs 9 tears it is nightmare and you think 7 mm hight pen help ? I bought 112 in 2015 when I make almost 900 battles very op tank after a year it got a trash and now you want to make this tank unplayable?

  2. Is this “maximum penetration changed from xxx to xxx mm” and “minimum penetration changed from xxx to xxx mm” not simply a buff of the average pen? or are they making the 25% RNG unsymetrical towards the bigger numbers?

  3. The min/max penetrations are driving me insane… I wanna know the average but I dunno how to calculate it…

What about WZ-111’s lower plate compared to the 112? It’s far weaker than the 112’s (by 20mm). Sure it matches the 1-4’s lower plate thickness, but it’s horrible on both tanks…

  4. These changes make the avg pen change too. It it also means that if the maximum pen is higher, you got better chances on penetrating a better armoured vehicle. Same for lower, it guarantees that you pen more too.

  5. It’s easy, just add both and divide by two. So, take it SuperPershing for example: before was 144 and 240. (144+240)/2 = 192. Now it’s (151+253)/2= 202 😀

  6. Oh, ok, thanks. 🙂 Math is my biggest weakness…sorry.

  7. this is something to make people shut up we did something with your pmm tanks , for a is6 wz111 112 they are getting a bull**** 182 pen . its not anough to make them compe***ive unless they give them 200 pen its amoust the same

  8. Remember, still in Supertest. These are further changes, I think they will bring even more changes tbh. But then again, these aren’t normal Premium, so don’t expect them to have same values as a T26E5 or a Obj. 252U…

  9. If they are going to buff the Jagdtiger 88 armour to 280mm shouldn’t they do so on the regular tier 9 version as well? If anything they should just increase the hit points of the JT 88 to around 1700 and buff the gun handling.

  10. They should increase jt88 penetration. You can’t pen **** with 203/237, it should be 212/259 with jt88 and panther 88.

  11. Super Pershing buff is the best IMO, that is 22% more engine power, that translates to 12hp/t instead of the 9.9 it has now. I love my super pershing, it’s the OG “screw your HEAT ammo” tank but that mobility was its biggest weak point.

  12. Maybe about to buy jgt 88 back if it is playable after the buff.

  13. So, when’s the Stug IV going to get a buff or any of the tier VIII vehicles that require one? Or the long forgotten tech tree branches? Hm…

  14. What about standard mm tier 8 mediums from the past? Like the Panther 88, CDC, Sta-2 and Korea patton?

  15. yeah some of the buffs make more sense than others, the Super Pershing definitely needed the mobility, JT88 is crippled by its lack of pen and low mobility not its armor.

  16. Yeah these tanks will probably end up being better than some normal tier 8 premiums. Type 59 and T-34-3 don’t even need buffs, they are already better than p88 and CDC.

  17. That is probably my favorite change. The SP has some serious potential now.

  18. They’d have to do it for EVERY tank equipped with the 8.8cm L/71, not just the Jagdtiger 88 and the Panther 88. They’d have to do it to the Tiger I, Tiger P, Ferdinand, Tiger II, VK 4502A, and the Krupp Steyr Waffentrager.

  19. Where is the former decision that the buff of the JT 88? Did they give up to buff its hitpoint from 1300 to 1400? Will WG buff all the penetration of tanks equipped Pak43 L/71 from 203 to 212?

  20. And all of those tanks could really use that pen buff. Then again, it is WG and same guns can have different pen values, so better pen could be just for the useless tier 8 tanks.

  21. to be honest, the jagdtiger could use a ROF buff, the pen is workable(not ideal, but its better than most comparable premiums). The armor buff would be nice for sure, but I fear that will just make the jagdtiger 8.8 more of a gold round magnet that it already is. The Non-premium could use the armor buff as well, since historical accuracy is becoming even less of a priority(be nice if they could fix the Jagdpanther 12.8 casemate armor while their at it).

Panther/M10 should be here, cause its premium matchmaking and its one of the few that really need fixing.

  22. Wow really… the mutant 6 needs alot more than that like hmmm maybe a TURRET BUFF? the current gun stats are meh but workable since you shoot down on most tanks anyways but it seriously needs an armor buff to make it what it should be..

  23. What’s wrong with panther M/10? Propably the best german medium prem tank.

  24. Well, here’s where they completely missed the point- Jg Tiger 8.8. can use better penetration on it’s both regular and premium shells. I’m thinking 220 on ap and 260 on premium shells. Mobility is welcomed, but not the main problem this tank has. This tank needs to be able to frontally penetrate most heavies that it meets. It is a situational tank and when situation allows it it should dominate, otherwise it should be inferior when not in good position. That is the type of tank we have on our hands and we knew it when we bought it. FCM should have much better gun handling (same as AMX CDC), and that would make this tank work as indented. WZ 111 should get better penetration on its premium shells (like IS6, KV5 etc.)- somewhere in the vicinity Super Pershing’s current shell penetration ability. Premium heat is more than good, which is what makes this tank still compe***ive. But being premium tier viii it should make credits (shouldn’t it) so this improved penetration should help that without changing the overall performance of the tank, which, according to stats, does well. SuperPershing does require more mobility, but otherwise it’s pretty OK. The other tanks mentioned, I don’t have so can’t speak about them.

  25. Yeah its from armour is meh against T9 TD’s that auto shoot gold at you (well any tank that auto shoots gold! lol)
