World of Tanks: Object 279, Warrior of the Apocalypse

What if Wargaming introduced the Apocalypse Warrior to the game? A few days ago I had information handed to me about this tank, at the time I couldn’t believe what I was looking at and when I asked a trusted source, he confirmed this was being tested internally.

Object 279, also known as Warrior of the Apocalypse, was recently tested on some closed internal test at Wargaming office and it’s not planned to be released in the game. This tank is completely broken if introduced as it is, and it’s almost impossible to balance to the game. With it’s UFO armour shape, this tank is virtually impenetrable from the front and sides, the only weak spot would be a small area at the rear.

Luckily, the Developers seem to realise this and they don’t want to bring the tank to our garages. While it will collect dust in some obscure garage, Wargaming decided to introduce Object 726 as an alternative to this beauty of a beast and, most probably, we will still get to see a Dooms Day Machine in the game.

Massive thanks to Milkym4n for uploading the 3D model and creating these amazing screenshots for The Daily Bounce readers.

  1. 1) More vodka comrade…
    2) How does Milky have acress to supertest server to extreact the render?

  2. just create a couple of weak spots, make it slow and easy to track , it will become like maus and type 5 a slow super heavy suited to city

  3. It can’t be that hard to balance, just make it a russian maus with poor other qualities, such as speed and acceleration, turning speed, pen, etc. Add weak spots too, I see many ways of ballancing it.

  4. Based on the stats shown here they realized that it wouldn’t work before they even gave it stats, 300mm armor, 3k base DPM, 313/390 pen etc. they probably just fooled around

  5. Lmfao, this looks like an UFO.. Piece of trash. It also can not be balanced because of this weird shape in the hull. Well done by going down a path which has already failed a long time ago horribly, Wargaming

    1. *edit

I didn’t read that it was not going into the game, but why would they even take time modelling this shit? Why not focusing on real issues

      1. They talked about this tank a few years ago, said they’d never put it in the game.

Now they still say they won’t put it in, yet they technically did, in a way.

Curiosity killed the cat… I guess they just wanna try it out and see how it performs. Nothing wrong with that.

Correct me if I’m wrong but, the team which does tank model research, and makes these models, is separate from the team which works on the stability of the game (bugfixing, etc.), right?

  6. Implement historical and fictional battles vs A.I. and have this tank be a boss fight. Nice eazy place to add balance-breaking tanks, like the WT and other tanks that were removed or never implemented

  7. Part of me can see this tank ingame. Mainly, in an Halloween event. Ghost tankers aren’t putting up with Leviathan shit again, so they decide it is time to bring out something scarier than last year’s tanks.

Leviathan being Leviathan, it could still wipe out a full team of those, but it would be an interesting twist, right?

  8. So this is my favorite tank in the whole world. I hope its get put in the game like the guy up top said make it super slow east to track and put it on the tech tree. PLEASE I mean its not that much different then the other tank that we just got news about.

  10. They could make it really slow and look the whole bottom of the hull could be a weak spot. So tired why are they even telling us if its not getting released wargaming again annoys me.

  11. If this gets introduced, it will be another OP russian tank, not balanced. If they want this stuff, put it on the russian server and leave the rest of us with a balanced game.

  12. Maybe they are getting him ready for tier 11? I’m not sure how other vehicles could be balanced at the tier but the tank is not that far from tier 10. Maybe it is finally time for tier 11 and modern tanks after they release the Polish tech tree. Also there was an actual video about tier 11 about 2-3 years ago so it’s not far from possible that it may be a tier 11.

  13. I dont see why people are whining and crying. Not like you own the game or anything. Its not your decision putting things in the game.
