World of Warships Supertest: Italian Battleship Roma
2 min readRoma was commissioned into the Regia Marina on 14 June 1942, but a severe fuel shortage in Italy at that time prevented her from being deployed; instead, along with her sister ships Vittorio Veneto and Littorio, she was used to bolster the anti-aircraft defenses of various Italian cities. In this role, she was severely damaged twice in June 1943, from bomber raids on La Spezia.
Later in the war a hit on Roma caused water to flood two boiler rooms and the after engine room, leaving the ship to limp along with two propellers, reduced power, and arc-induced fires in the stern of the ship. Shortly thereafter, another bomb slammed into the ship which detonated within the forward engine room, causing catastrophic flooding and the explosion of the #2 main turret’s magazines, throwing the turret itself into the sea. Sinking by the bow and listing to starboard, Roma capsized and broke in two, carrying 1,393 men down with her.
Roma will be introduced in the near future as a Tier VIII Premium Italian battleship. All stats are listed without crew and upgrade modifiers, and are subject to change before the final release.

for those Kancolle players playing WoWs and dont have Roma in their fleet…
now Roma exist…. in WoWs…
back in Kancolle? good luck farming her during the event…
it seems they are selling crazy those Italians, considering the rate of releases !!!
Hopefully she doesn’t get hit With a Fritz X this time!
These stats are pure NONSENSE: why just 18.5Km range for guns with one of the longest range ever produced? The RN 381/50 mod 1934 had a range in excess of 42Km at 36° versus USN 16″/45 33,741 m at 45°, and yet the Roma has 18,5Km range in game versus 23,53Km of the upcoming M***achusetts!
Why a 180° turn time at 30 sec for a M***achusetts (same as Roma, which has historical 180° turn time) while the real thing is clearly stated to take a hefty 45sec?
Why a 30sec reload time for the Roma (same as M***achusetts, which has historical 30sec reload time) while the Italian guns took almost 45sec to reload?
Why the same 1.9 alpha for the Roma and the M***achusetts if the Italian 381/50 were rather erratic (Charge quality control) while the 16″/4 were well regarded for having quite more consistent dispersion historically speaking?
Let’s hope for a very high Krupp value on the Roma (which was about the same as the 16″/45): marked difference in trajectories should change the outcome of a salvo significantly anyway, so no need to nerf the Italian shells to the level of the British ones… >__>
The only consistent value with the real thing is muzzle velocity, but all the other stats are purely made up to fit a “standard” shell calibre and a fictional “flavour” intended for the nation.
For balance, you know, balance…
381 can not overmatch 27mm bows… Any way, Roma is at least a fun ship to play with, unlike Duck of York….
If quality control were any sort of factor in this game, almost every Russian ship would have terrible shells. And I think we all know why that won’t happen.
