Wargaming Head of Community Management Message

2 min read

Hello everyone,

Florian, Wargaming Head of Community Management, also know as Nijal, has published a message on the forum today in hopes the recent drama comes to and end.

interview1

“Hello all, we wanted to share an update with you on the recent incident with SirFoch

“We at Wargaming have further reviewed the incident of last Friday involving SirFoch and his “Chrysler K GF rant” video, and we believe we could have handled the situation better. We strongly support our players’, including our Community Contributors’, right to speak critically about us and our games. At the same time, in the case of our Community Contributors, we ask that negative comments be made in a reasonably respectful, constructive manner, and SirFoch’s video didn’t do that. In turn, we acted too quickly when we threatened to have YouTube remove SirFoch’s video through a copyright infringement complaint. We have apologized to SirFoch for making that threat, and we are continuing our conversation with him on next steps.

We’re committed to doing a better job on this front. We’re going to improve the way we communicate with our Community Contributors, and as part of that effort we will work with them on more detailed, specific guidelines for our Community Contributors to help ensure incidents like this don’t happen again. We’ll also be implementing a more thorough internal review process of our own potential actions which will be used in any future case where we have concerns that a Community Contributor has crossed the line in the language they use.

We love our players and our contributors – even the ones who don’t always love us – and we are committed to using this case to grow and improve.”

Nijal

  1. All fancy words….but he didn’t even bother just saying…. ‘our game is ****3d, community knows better, we should listen to feedback’.

That’s the bigger issue here. Its what caused all this shenanigans.

  2. Bwahahah. Say all the right words, it is actions that count.

  3. **** off, give NA at least 1 month free premium + 30 boosters or GTFO

  4. That’s all fine and dandy, however as Jingles explained – Florian is Head of Community Relations for WG EU, and NOT WG Global. After Florian’s initial announcement (saying basically what was posted above) came the WG NA announcement accusing SirFoch of homophobia etc and the veiled threat of copyright strikes for anyone on any server by the WG NA team. Left hand, meet right hand. That is why there is an exodus of WG CCs right now.

The only way to get this sorted out once and for all is with an official statement of global policy by Viktor Kysyli. Then all CCs, Youtubers, streamers, etc. will know exactly where they stand.

As for me, I foresee a month (minimum) making no further WG games’ content and probably spending the time making gameplay videos for the older boxed games on the shelf above my computer.

  5. WG has been doing nothing but “listening to feedback” ever since 9.18 was implemented. What more do you want, exactly?
They even sound desperate to please the whining m***es with rushed patches like 9.18 (remember how fast it went from Sandbox to live?). 9.19 is coming along with the same rush.

  6. Why would you feel like anyone is en***led to anything because a Youtuber’s video was taken down? It didn’t affect anyone’s game experience in any way.

  7. An excellent first step in learning from their mistakes would be to fire the idiot that tried to blackmail someone and misuse the DMCA.

  8. Listening to feedback? What planet you on boy?

Also the few times they do listen they listen to the wrong people. Noobs and whiny fools who have no idea about the game mechanics and how it works etc.
