World of Tanks 9.18 Common Test Micro Patch

Hello everyone,

A very important micro patch has hit the 9.18 Common Test Server, with some tweaks to light tanks and the removal of artillery in platoons. Here’s what Wargaming has announced and more details on these changes.


  • No artillery in Platoons. You were vocal about mismatched scenarios, when a Platoon of three SPGs was placed at the top of the list and the team ended up with three long-range support fire vehicles as their main strength. The other frustrating issue was frequent cases of arty giving its all to support fellow Platoon-members and totally neglecting the rest of the team. To eliminate both problems, we decided to stop SPGs from forming and joining Dynamic and regular Platoons. Removing the option to play in Platoons should facilitate team cooperation and aid the matchmaker in creating balanced teams. Individual Battle Missions were updated accordingly. We removed Platoons from their conditions.
  • Balance tweaks to light tanks. The initial balance settings improved their view range too much, blurring the line between light and medium vehicles. They had a large enough view range to scout efficiently by default. So, you could install additional equipment, train skills and perks to increase their firepower to the point where they could compete with medium vehicles. Along with being great scouts, they would deal almost as much damage as some medium tanks. We averaged out their firepower to draw a thicker line between these two classes in terms of their combat roles. Light tanks keep their trademark mobility, high camo values, and lower durability, just as they still outperform medium vehicles at scouting. At the same time, their firepower was reduced and is lower than that of medium tanks. It’s enough to retaliate yet isn’t enough to make dealing damage their first priority in combat. Their view range also decreased, too. Now, you have to mount Coated Optics/Binocular Telescope and train Crew perks to improve it from the default.

    •  Changed the view range of the Rheinmetall Panzerwagen turret from 430 m to 420 m
    •  Changed penetration of the Exp. HE shell for the 105 mm Kanone gun from 53 mm to 120 mm
    •  Changed damage of the Exp. APDS shell for the 105 mm Kanone gun from 390 to 360
    •  Changed damage of the Exp. HE shell for the 105 mm Kanone gun from 480 to 440
    •  Changed damage of the Exp. HEAT shell for the 105 mm Kanone gun from 390 to 360
  •  HWK 12
    •  Changed the reloading time of the 90 mm Mecar N gun for the HWK 12 turret from 7.9 s to 8.2 s
    •  Changed the reloading time of the 90 mm Mecar N gun for the HWK 12 verbessert turret from 7.15 s to 7.7 s

  1. No reason to play tier 10 light tanks over batchat and obj 140 etc. 33% less hp, less alpha, less dpm, no armour, almost the same view range, poor accuracy, poor penetration.

    But let’s buff maus type 5 etc to stupid levels

  2. *Why does WG have this idea that light tanks *MUST be made worse than medium tanks? *Why should one cl*** be made clearly and
    deliberately worse than another?
    *Can’t they be equally good but in slightly
    different ways?

    Why do light tanks have:

    Much Worse-

    *Accuracy – lt100 has accuracy of tier 5-7
    Russian hts lol 0.46. best is only 0.36
    *Dpm – t62a has 1000 dpm more than lt100
    *Alpha for same calibre guns 105 – 390 v 360
    *HP ~ 25-33%
    *Penetration 20-30mm on same calibre
    * terribly LOW ammo counts ~25-30
    *While only having barely better camo, top
    speed and view range after the nerfs..

    *The only thing you get is acceleration to your
    ~70km/h..

    *In these corridor meta maps mobility is nice
    but it doesn’t compensate for all the bad stuff

    *extra view range isn’t that important tier 10
    meds and his have more then enough.. 400m
    base..

    *In pub matches these lt tanks will not
    compete with tier 10 meds in any way in the
    hands of normal players.

  3. RIP light tanks before they even get to main game! What a patch this will be. 1/2 there arty will be useless and lights that can’t hit a Maus let alone pen it. Great job WG

  4. Batchat now has better view range by a few metres and only 2% less camo then tier 10 French light both with no crew.

    So still the best scout I guess

  6. Why is the 13-105 getting nerfed so ****ing hard? It was OKAY to begin with. 35sec clip reload to deal like 1000 damage? And .42 accuracy? ****ING REALLY?

  7. Not liking this arty platoon restriction.
    If they ONLY prohibited a 3-man platoon with SPGs, I’d be fine with it. But allow 2 SPGs and one different type, or 1 SPG and two players with different types.

    This is way more aggravating than the nerfs to damage.

  8. One wonders who they are really trying to cater to with this patch? It’s almost like why bother? Particularly since the suspicion has to be that this new MM template is just going to be “happy time” for platoons of purple unicorns

  10. Arty will come out of the game just as heavies get the buff they needed. Arty should be left alone now to counter heavies. I hope they dont screw this game up because of the cry babies who dont know how to play matches with arty.

  11. Limit the arty per platoon to 1. We have an arty in the platoon so that he gives us cover and we spot for him.

  12. I just started this game for a week or so, using light tanks. Thanks for the new patch. I think I’m gonna quit in a few days. Not only do I have to face players in tiers higher than me, now they’re making it even more difficult to play LT. “Oh go hit the rear if you wanna pen”, oh geez guess what, it still goes “DIIIIING”. Oh, you just bought a new tank? Here, go face someone 3 tiers higher than you! Seriously, go make the map bigger, so there’s a ****ing p***age tanks can actually flank.

    Scouts are ****ing useless now, with other bigger tanks having better viewrange and guns AND armor. Oh what again? Camo? Oh yes, that! Now they can shoot at me accurately without showing themselves! HUZZAH.

    Please ffs, at least make bigger tanks blind on some of their side/rear, including TD. What’s the point of scouting if they spot me first before I them? At least this way, scouts are essential in their role. I’m still laughing hard when I shot HT tracks nearby. It didn’t do jack ****, doesn’t penetrate, not even snapping it.

    I implore you, make your gameplay better so newbie won’t quit. Or give an option where we fight someone of the same tier. I can’t really find it funny anymore not being able to damage bigger tanks at their rear.

  13. This is just bull****. The only thing needed is to fix is matchmaking and all would be fine. Breaking the game patch after patch with these stupid balance tweaks doesn’t make any sense.

    Well, I quit using any money to this game long ago and hope other will do the same. Developers doesn’t know what they are doing, the only whip we have is money. Use it!

  14. hey how about “rebalance” maus and type heavy with 1km gun with 100000 alpha and 1^10*23 hitpoint because they are too weak and getting bullied ingame

  15. Based on the nerf visibility reasoning I do expect the binoculars and optics will be available for LTs only.

  17. What a idiot decided to nerf one of small amount of the remaining stats, where are LT’s better than MT’s. Mounting coated optic’s and binocular telescope, most of the maps are corridor maps, where are scouts unable to scout p***ive, by using bush. And if they gonna spot active,the MT’s are as good as scouts even in default. (I mean MT’s like B-C,Leopard,and rest of em). In addition, it will take long to increase crew skill and skill perks to 100%, and that 30-40 meters vision increase doesn’t mean anything, MT’s vision will be still almost regular to LT’s. But there is one difference between MT’s and LT’s. Because medium tanks have much better gun, armour, and hit points, so the only few stats, where are LT’s better is mobility and camo, while moving, it doesn’t seems fair huh? So wargaming please delete this micropatch, its an total bull****, in addition, you are going againist yourself, because you can get a lot of money by letting players to spend free exp’s, golds money, for get that light tanks. Do you really think, that someone will buy T10 light tanks, that have mostly even worse vision than MT’s, the one of small amount of stat’s, that makes scout to be a scout?! I really don’t think so.
