World of Tanks 9.17.1 Stronghold – Tier VIII Battle Format Changes Cancelled

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update regarding the new Stronghold changes. Wargaming has announced that Tier VI and Tier VIII battles would now be 7vs7, but it seems the Tier VIII battle new format has been rejected. This means it will stay 10vs10 when Update 9.17.1 goes live. This has been announced on the Russian Forum by one of the Developers.

“We have carefully collected feedback and communicated with players and clan commanders, and as a result we agreed with the opinion that 10vs10 on Tier VIII battles is the best format. Accordingly, when the new version of Strongholds goes live, the attacks format will remain the same as now. Tier VI: 7vs7, Tier VIII: 10vs10, Tier X: 15vs15.”

I’m actually not very happy with this “reverse change” on the format, because I was really looking forward to see Tier VIII battles with 7vs7. Why? Because they are closer to the Wargaming League format, so it would actually be beneficial for Clans to practice and maybe even try to get more active on different tournaments.

It would be easier for players to participate in a similar format if they could just play Skirmishes rather than Team Battles, where you have to create a team and have limited space.

On the other hand, this could mean WGL could need a change so it relates more with what players got available in the game. One of the biggest problems WGL has, and this has been identified several times, is players do not relate to the WGL format because they don’t play it in the game.

What do you think?

  1. You do know that there is a tier 8 7v7 format called Teambattles in WoT already implemented even with the 2-Base att/deff mode thus no need for a 2nd 7v7?

  2. Yes I do, but not everyone plays Teambattles and the require people to create teams. The new Stronghold would make it a lot easier for players to play this format, because they can play directly with clan members or even legionaries would be able to join in.

  3. The problem with the change was that there would have been no 10vs10 mode anymore, all you’d have left would be 7vs7 for T6+8 and 15vs15 for T10, creating a huge gap.

And creating a team for TB isn’t more complicated than setting up a skirmish. Only drawback is that you can’t earn resources there.

  4. Wargaming should change the TB to 7/68 instead of 7/54, not the well perfoming and nicely done 10v10 T8 mode.

  5. Keep in mind that Tier 8 CW battles are 10vs10, so makes sense for the Stronghold to be 10vs10 too on tier 8.

  6. I know, I know! lol It’s just my “two cents” 🙂 I think the game “eSports” and “End Game” should have very similar structure and not be so different. And instead of putting their eggs on TeamBattles, they should try with anything Clan related because thats were players are. (Players that want some sort of compe***ion in the game)
