World of Warships Supertest: U.S. Tier VIII Battleship Nebraska

Historical background

Nebraska doesn’t really have a historical background to speak of. The ship is essentially a North Carolina-class battleship that was converted as a hybrid. The ship is equipped with a full hangar and flight deck to operate aircraft. The aircraft are brought on the flight deck via two elevators, one at the rear of the deck and one on the side of the ship. She is able to launch aircraft with two catapults at the end of the deck in cases where said aircraft would normally not have enough deck space to take off.

When it comes to her hybrid part, she is using bombers dropping in carpet bombing style. Just like U.S. dive bombers from carriers, these bombers are not getting an aiming debuff when manoeuvering while in attack mode, and on top of that, the reticule is incredibly small. From the numbers in the game files, the reticule length is about half that of the Midway’s upgraded dive bombers for the sake of reference. Also, these bombers don’t have JATO (Jet assisted take-off) but have an Engine Cooling consumable.

Personal Opinion

Nebraska… Well, she already looks fairly strong. The thing with Nebraska is that, unlike the following ships, she has inferior armor to the ship she is based on. North Carolina has a 38 mm deck armor while Nebraska is fully covered with 32 mm armor. Also, compared to Delaware and Louisiana, the sides of the hangar are entirely covered with 19 mm of armor.

As for the rest, 2×3 406 mm guns with 2.0 sigma and shorter reload is more than fine in terms of firepower. Also, those bombers will definitely be able to nuke destroyers with that small reticule.

Essentially, it will be a glass canon and quite a nasty one. Able to nuke destroyers and slap the rest but also a ship that might get farmed down easily. Also, with her rear firing angles, kiting away will be particularly dangerous.
