Premium Tanks: Returners and Leavers!

2 min read

Update 9.22 will remove one of the French heavy tanks from the in-game store: FCM 50 t. This amazing tank with special matchmaker has fallen behind with all the new releases. Matchmaker changes weren’t kind to it too, and now we don’t see many of them out on the battlefield.

Fun and fast, the FCM 50 t is a tank everyone should have in their garages, even with the new matchmaker this tank can be a good credit maker. If you don’t have it, what are you waiting for?

While some classics are leaving, some troublemakers are returning to the shops. Object 252U, also know as Defender will be on sale again. At least for North America, it’s not confirmed that it will come on any other region, but I expect it to happen.

This vehicle was highly expected during Christmas period sales, but Wargaming announced they weren’t selling it. Its release was considered a mistake by Wargaming, and they openly admitted it should have never had come to the game as it is.

Funny enough we will see it on sale again, not to my liking and so many other players, but none the less there will be people who really want to get one and are OK with spending the money on it.

What do you guys think, do you agree with FCM 50 t leaving the stores and Object 252U returning for a short period?

  1. If defender returns to EU, I will be so split. On the one hand I dont want it in the game, on the other hand I know its not gonna go away, so if you cant beat them join them and it isnt like there is another good soviet premium heavy right now…
(I guess IS3A could count, but that doesnt have a loader right?)

  2. I started playing again after a break the last day the defender was on sale last time. It’s the only tank at the moment I’m willing to buy. So I for one am glad it’s back. I feel it should have been a 24 hr sale but never the less I am glad it is back.

  3. IS3A is so bad its funny. Its a tank I really regret purchasing and its been sitting in my garage collecting dust for about like 2 years now. Its a forgotten tank and has been horribly powercreeped

  4. Defender will most likely come for a 24hr sale on April’s Fool day (just a thought)
Like last year’s Mutant which was never to be sold again.
I personally do not intend to buy it, but I am sure many many people have put aside some money for it.

  5. Well, I’m waiting for both Defender and Lorraine 40t to be available to buy. Lorr is alright, quite balanced and being OP only when driven by good player with good crew. But I can’t blame WG for me being worse player, right? If it comes to Defender… I honestly detest that tank. Tier 8 game breaker. Like if side armor of IS-3 wasn’t enough they brought that one. With bad/average player driving it it’s troublemaker. With good/unicum player driving it it’s “choose other flank and pray someone else will take care of it” tank for players like me. Why I want to buy it then? Team Battles and Clan activities.

Like Mark van Eldik said: ” if you can’t beat them join them”.

I don’t like direction this game is going but I’m too addicted and I spent too much money to quit. GG WP WG.

  6. KV-5 is awesome. A lot of players don’t know where to shoot it. Plus when you’ll reach max speed you can just aim at someone and ram someone else. Double dmg. Plus pushing other tanks to let your teammates shoot them too. Plus reverse sidescrapping. If you play in platoon (with other tanks or KV-5s) and don’t get isolated it’s pure fun. Playing alone is a bit different. Much more painful. Plus KV-5 don’t see tier X.

  7. I refused to buy the Defender/252 when it was released since I felt it was broken and I thought that releasing it was a dick move by Wargaming. Well, I still think it is broken and that it should not be in the game at all, but I guess I will pick up one this time around because – what’s the point. If Wargaming decide to break their game in order to make a quick buck who am I to disagree.

  8. Object 252U being back on sale is only thing WG can do to bring me back to this game. I opted not to buy it when they sold it and I regret I didn’t every time I fire up WoT.

  9. Had FCM and really struggled with it. That alpha was just meh… no armour means that you just cannot trade. So I traded it in to revioli, BEST DECISION EVER.

  10. I bought the Defender shortly after it was released, pretty much sight unseen. I wanted a crew trainer at tier 8, and that fit the bill. Then the controversy hit, and I won’t lie, the tank is great. In a weird way, it “fits” the current matchmaker- you routinely see tier 10 tanks, and the Defender can absolutely take them head on and win. It’s sort of a blow to the current setup where tier 8 tanks are sort of the underdogs in most games.

The FCM 50T is a relic from a time long gone- it’s pen is too low, it’s armor too soft, and it’s maneuverability undermined by it’s sheer size. There’s a reason you don’t see it anymore- it’s not compe***ive at all anymore. That Wargaming still has the gall to charge full price for it is downright hilarious. Aside from some very old-school players, the FCM 50T isn’t going to be missed.
